How to overcome your fears, doubts & worries…

If I’m being really honest, I spent many, many years of my life succumbing to my fears, doubts and worries. Somehow I got it in my head that if those negative thoughts and emotions were there in me, it must mean something important….like God was telling me not to do that thing I was fearful of or that I was incapable of doing it (doubts) or it wouldn’t end well for me (worries).

It was only after I found my path into universal wisdom through spirituality that I uncovered what was really going on.

On the off-chance you let your fears, doubts and worries affect you and your experiences (that’s humor…of course they do, you’re human!), i want you to know right off the bat that they don’t have to. And you can do something about them.

Here’s what I teach my students.

First, when you feel the first twinge of a fear coming up. Don’t do what virtually everyone does. Don’t try to suppress it. Don’t try to deny it. Don’t try to ignore or talk your way out of it.

As always, the first thing to do is accept it. “Oh, I’m feeling fear about this!” Yes, it’s uncomfortable but it won’t kill you to feel it.

So breathe deeply into your abdomen and, as you keep doing that, you’ll find you can feel the fear AND also experience it dissipating as you breathe.

Why feel the fear instead of avoid it? Because it arose in your for a reason. It’s there to tell you something.

In those rare cases when the fear is overwhelming, it really may be telling you to avoid something you’re considering doing, that it may be hurtful to you. (That’s one way our Higher Selves communicate with us. )

But usually it’s not that. Usually these types of so-called negative emotions show up simply because our Higher Selves want us to know we carry beliefs in us about the situation we’re facing. That’s all, just beliefs, beliefs that don’t serve our growth as beings.

What’s important to do then when the fear appears is to breathe deeply and ask yourself what the belief is that is under the fear. It’ll often show up if you ask yourself that question as you breathe. And you’ll often be able to feel if it’s a logical belief or illogical.

So, seen from that viewpoint, our fears, worries and doubts are supportive friends that we best welcome into our experience…instead of trying to ignore, repress or deny them.

If you want to improve your life experience, it’s something to consider….
